Controlling a lamp with voice command
Earlier this week, I discovered an android app called Automate. It lets you create simple scripts that can tie events like voice commands to REST API calls.
It only took 1 second for me to have a light bulb moment – combining this app with Z-Command’s API will let anyone control any z-wave appliance with voice commands.
So I put together two Automate scripts to accomplish the task. One to turn on a z-wave binary switch and another to turn it off.
Before you can use the script however, you have to download and install Automate. Then do a little bit of configuration as shown in the slide show below.

Remember to edit the first few blocks in the scripts to reflect your actual username, password, z-command URL and the node Id of the device you want to control.
You can also edit the voice command that the script should respond to.
