Is Z-Command based on open z-wave?

No. Z-Command is based on the official Zensys SDK and can support all official z-wave features. Door locks are planned for a future release.

What is the root username and password on the Z-Command device?

The root username and password are “pi” and “raspberry” respectively. You should use this when connecting to Z-Command via SSH. Note that this is not the credentials for the web interface. The default username and password for the web is “admin” and “admin” respectively.
